KALLIOPI
STUDIO 1  |  Foundations

Milliner Studio

Holding firmly to her roots, Kalliopi crafts headpieces for traditional Greek costumes. Her vision to spread the Greek culture sees her demonstrating tutorials of how to tie and fold the scarfs together

The action of folding is the primary inspiration of the architecture's organic form. The form is also a metaphor to the idea that every head shape is unique and so the headpiece is folded slightly differently for each individual. The internal and external skins consequently represent the layering of different material scarfs in the headpiece. The workshop was designed with a semi open plan whereas the cocoon-like studio provides privacy for a space to contemplate and rest. Both modules are connected by a simple white path representing a sense of closeness like in the villages of Greece.
